OUR FIRST LADY

Lady Doris Murphy was born in Greenville, SC to the late Willie and Dorothy Dorsey. At an early age she moved to Asheville, NC where she attended the Asheville city schools. Missionary Doris Murphy continued her education in Business at Asheville Buncombe Technical College. Throughout her childhood, Missionary Murphy was an active member at Garden of Prayer Church of God in Christ.

Lady Murphy can recall attending church Sunday after Sunday hearing the Word of God and realizing that even still, something was missing from her life. During a revival service hosted by Mother Mabel Smith of Greensboro, NC the void experienced by young Doris Dorsey was filled when she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Lady Murphy married her high school sweetheart, Bishop Tommie A. Murphy on May 16, 1981. From the blessed union came two beautiful girls, Trevira Nicole and Ericka Lenae Murphy.

Lady Doris Murphy is an anointed woman of God clothed in virtue and integrity. She is a mentor to the women of New Bethel and the E.C. Cannon Memorial District. She serves as the president of the Annual Women of Destiny Conference for New Bethel Church of God in Christ. She serves as Vice President of the executive cabinet under the leadership of Mother Harrizene Keyes, supervisor of the Women’s Department for the Greater North Carolina Jurisdiction. She also serves as the president of the Jurisdictional Elders and Ministers Wives Circle.

Lady Doris Murphy is a living example of the Proverbs 31 woman. She desires to see the same virtues drawn from every woman she meets. Missionary Murphy encourages women to seek God concerning their spiritual gifts. She often states, “You will never know the magnitude of God’s gifts until you use it!”
